Healthy Bones Week
Healthy Bones week is on again, from August 1st to August 7th. So keep bones healthy by eating calcium containing foods such as dairy, getting adeqate vitamin D and other nutrients and being active.
Dairy Australia is encouraging everyone to think about their bones at breakfast time by including calcium rich dairy foods such as milk, yoghurt, and cheese at this meal. Research has shown people who skipped breaskfast were less likely to consume enough dairy foods.
Young children 1-3 years require 2 serves of dairy a day while those 4-8 years 3 serves a day.
One serve of dairy equals 250mls of milk or 200g tub of yoghurt or 40g cheese.
For more information on Healthy Bones Week visit the healthy bones website. You'll find a weekly menu planner for kids, recipes, fact sheets and posters.
