The Nourish Study: an early feeding intervention to prevent childhood obesity

In this feature article, Professor Lynne Daniels presents the findings from The Nourish Study, an NH&MRC funded research project. Heinz Australia also provided funding to support this project.

The increased incidence of overweight and obesity in both children and adults is a concern. Indications are that overweight and obesity may have their roots in early life when food preferences and food habits are forming. The Nourish Study looks at how teaching parents to feed their infants and young children in a positive way from the very beginning by encouraging healthy food choices, may help establish lifelong healthy eating practices and so prevent overweight and obesity in the future.
