Golden Circle Launches Healthy Life Juice with Probiotics

Golden Circle has launched Healthy Life Probiotic Juice, the first juice in Australia to contain a probiotic culture to support the bodies immune system. Available in 2 varieties, Breakfast and Apple Mango, the juice is chilled, has added vitamin C and contains no added sugar, no dairy ingredients and is free from articial colours and flavours.

Probiotics are live bacterial cultures which have a beneficial health effect. Our gut contains both 'good' and 'bad' bacteria, the good bacteria being important for, amongst other things, strengthening our immune system.  Good bacterial probiotic cultures belong to the lactobacilli, bifidobacteria and streptococci species. Only specific strains within these groups will have the desired probiotic health effect. Addition of specific strains of probiotic bacteria can restore the healthy balance of gut bacteria which may have been reduced by lifestyle factors such as poor diet, exercise, infections and antibiotic use, smoking and drugs.

The probiotic culture used in Healthy Life Juice is Probi Defendum. It is a combination of Lactobacillus paracasei 8700:2 ( found naturally in cheese during ripening) and Lactobacillus plantarum HEAL 9 ( naturally found in our healthy intestinal gut mucosa). The culture has been shown in clinicial trials to have a probiotic effect.

Clinical trials have shown it to be effective in preventing and treating the common cold with trials showing those using the probiotic culture versus those not using it ( the control) had:-

• reduced episodes of common cold symptons
• significant reductions in the severity of common cold symptoms
• reduced length of time that common cold symptoms persisted

The juice is available at major supermarkets in 300ml and 1 litre bottles. Every 200ml serve contains 1 billion probiotic bacteria, the amount recommended to support the immune system when taken everyday as part of a balanced diet.

Wow, this is something new! Probiotics juice is a bit different for me because what I only know are probiotics supplements and probiotic shakes. I think this is something to look forward to.
