After reviewing the scientific evidence, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rejected the proposed health labelling claim that 100% whey based partially hydrolyzed infant formula ( hypo-allergenic or HA formula) reduces the risk of atopic dermatitis in infants not exclusively breastfed and at high risk of allergy, in the first year of life and up to 3 years of age. The rationale for the rejection of the claim is published in the journal Pediatrics.
